What is the difference between microgreens and sprouts?

There are several differences between microgreens and sprouts. Unlike what most people think, microgreens are not the same as or a smaller version of sprouts. Both have several differences in appearance, taste and even the way that they are grown. While microgreens are grown in soil, sprouts really originate in wate. Sprouts have edible seeds and stems whereas in the case of microgreens the leaves and stems only can be eaten. Microgreens generally have a lot more flavour and are good to use as garnishes whereas sprouts generally need to be fermented in order to have flavour or to taste good. Another difference between the two is that microgreens take a lot longer to grow.
